Description of Work:
The work consists of an offset grid of 300 identical convex safety mirrors mounted in 6 rows of 50 mirrors each. The mirrors are hung along a wall that is 1m from the windows of the Brighouse Skytrain station, facing the train platform. The mirrors are 490mm in diameter and are made of 304 grade stainless steel on the convex side and 430 grade on their backside.
This project creates a deep sense of space and reflection for the Brighouse Canada Line Station in Richmond, BC, Canada. Sited along the wall of an adjacent housing project, the artist installed 300 convex safety mirrors to produce a shimmering visual plane, which presents the station itself as its subject.
