Description of Work:
Ninety colour-tinted glass fins are installed at the edge of the Westin Wall Centre Richmond Hotel rooftop. These glass panels, using five different colours, are lit with white LED lights and are visible from all directions. The glass fins are fastened to steel stanchions, both above and below, by stainless steel bolts.
Artist Statement:
The colours used in the lit glass stanchions are the colours of our forests, two shades of darker greens and two shades of green gold with one shade of pale brown referencing the bark. These stanchions, as a forest, connect the top of the building with the ground it’s built on and link the top and the bottom of the structure to complete the whole.
