Collage Party
Collage Art Making Activity
Sat, May 14, 1:00-4:00pm
As part of World Collage Day, the gallery is hosting a collage party to get together with friends and make some art! Using imagery inspired by the exhibition, "A Minaret for the General’s Wife" by artist Erdem Taşdelen, participants are invited to cut and paste, listen to music and experiment with simple art materials.

World Collage Day is an annual, international celebration of collage on the second Saturday in May and is about artists connecting across borders against a global context of entrenchment and separation. The day is about an art medium that excels at bringing different things together to create new forms and new ways of thinking. RAG programs staff will open their vast collection of cool, collage materials to lead a hands-on collage-making party for adults. All materials will be provided to make a collage postcard, Artist Trading Card or larger artwork.

Inspired by the Erdem Taşdelen exhibition, "A Minaret for the General’s Wife", the focus will be on architectural and archival imagery to make unique collage works. See samples and demonstrations by gallery staff on how to use cut and ripped posters, photographs, decorative papers and magazines to develop new artworks. Guests can work on solo or collaborative collage pieces and take a break for a quick, casual tour of the exhibition.

Materials and tools are provided; artists are welcome to bring their own specialty collage scissors and glue. Open to all skill levels, for 16+ years. The session is FREE, however registration is required due to limited seating.

Note: Wearing of masks is encouraged and appreciated.
