Golden Boot Gathering

Golden Boot Gathering is a vibrant community celebration connecting Richmond seniors to sport while honouring multiculturalism, cultural pride, and community belonging through the spirit of soccer. This senior-focused event at Minoru Centre for Active Living transforms game day into an interactive and inclusive experience designed with accessibility and connection in mind.

Participants are encouraged to wear their favourite team jersey, team colours, or cultural attire and bring noisemakers to create a festive, stadium-inspired atmosphere.

Beyond the screen, themed activity zones invite guests to engage, learn, and celebrate:

? History and Learning (in collaboration with the Library) Explore soccer nostalgia kits filled with memorabilia, test knowledge at trivia stations, and discover global traditions and milestone moments that have shaped the beautiful game.

?? Culture, Crafts, and Celebration (in collaboration with the Arts Centre) Design tote bags, jerseys, and flags; enjoy face painting and temporary tattoos; strike a pose at the themed photo booth; create custom noisemakers; and join the “Victory Dance” booth to celebrate in style.

?? Skills and Games Try a dribble challenge, gentle agility course, penalty kick challenge, and target passing station. A walking soccer game led by RUFC offers a safe, inclusive, and social way to stay active and connected.

Golden Boot Gathering blends sport, culture, creativity, and community into one unforgettable afternoon — celebrating the global game while bringing Richmond together.
