With the opening of the Dinsmore Bridge in 1969, the Knight Street Bridge in 1974, the Arthur Laing Bridge in 1976, and later on, the Alex Fraser Bridge in 1986, increased settlement occurred in all sectors of Richmond.
The student population kept growing, resulting in the construction of more public schools.
