Get moving and help make Richmond Canada’s Most Active Community

08 June 2021

The ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge is officially underway and Richmond is again taking part in this nationwide initiative that encourages communities to be physically active through the month of June.

The ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge encourages Canadians to register and identify where they live so it can track exercise and activities by community. Activities available in Richmond cover all ages and abilities ranging from walking your dog and swimming laps, to doing a yoga class and gardening. Plus there are great individual prizes to be won and lots of free fitness programs.

One of the ways for residents to participate is to track their physical activity through the ParticipACTION Fitness mobile app. Simply download the app, start tracking and help Richmond become Canada’s Most Active Community. Those who track their physical activity on the app will be entered into draws for even more prizes.

People can also sign up for some of the 100+ free programs and sessions being offered online and in person. Programs include Family Yoga, Boomer Boot Camp, Nordic Pole Walking, personal training and Dance Fit. To take part, browse and register for all programs at www.richmond.ca/register using the keyword “Community Better Challenge”.

Another way to become involved is through challenges offered at community recreation facilities and on the City’s social media channels. There are prizes to be won including ParticipACTION workout towels and free programs and passes at participating facilities, so be sure to visit www.richmond.ca/participaction and follow the City’s Facebook and Instagram pages for details.

By helping Richmond be active, participants will also enjoy the physical, mental and social benefits a healthy lifestyle can bring. All programs will meet strict health and safety guidelines as set out by local and provincial health authorities.
