Community Development Coordinator

Job Summary
Supervised by the Community Facility Coordinator and reporting to the Minoru Seniors Society, the position plans, coordinates and produces special events, identifies and pursues funding opportunities, manages volunteers, creates and implements marketing and community strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Programming
- Plan and coordinate all event marketing materials
- Support the Minoru Seniors Society Board of Directors to implement and facilitate forums, task forces, meetings and presentations
- Design, plan, coordinate and implement all events
- Recruit and assign volunteers for the Society programs and events
Supervisory
Recruit, train and supervise volunteers for special events and projects
Customer Service/Communication
- Create and produce communications and marketing materials
- Design internal and external advertising traditional and new media promotional pieces
- Create and design media relations (e.g. media releases, story opportunities in the newspaper, etc.)
- Liaise and maintain relationships with schools, businesses and other community organizations
- Establish and maintain regular communication with volunteers
- Be familiar with the City of Richmond Volunteer Strategy
Administrative
- Work with supervisor, treasurer and finance committee to maintain budgets
- Develop, implement, evaluate and maintain all records, forms, policies and procedures
- Identify and create funding opportunities and develop relationships
- Write grants or partnership proposals
- Conduct post special event or projects follow up
- Supply written reports for the Board of Directors
- Create volunteer job descriptions as per each special event or project
Education and Experience
Grade 12 graduation plus completion of a diploma in marketing and communication or special event or related field and two years experience in marketing and communication, special event planning, volunteer management budgeting, and funds development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

- Experience working with community boards, committees and partners
- Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite Software
- up to 40 hours per week, hours and days of work will be set with the successful candidate
- $24.85 per hour plus benefits
