The directory has been divided into two groupings: those businesses that have a location in Richmond and those that have locations outside of Richmond but come into Richmond to provide services.
Not included in the directory are businesses up for renewal or government agencies. (Under the Business Licence bylaw all vending/game machines and vehicles being used in the Vehicle For Hire category are required to be licenced. They are not included in the directory).
The directory is sorted in numerical order using the North American Industry Classification coding (NAICS). The NAICS defines the general industry sector in which the business operates based on the product or service provided. The NAICS coding groups “like” businesses together. For example businesses that provide the service of gas contracting, plumbing, air conditioning or repair of heating systems are grouped together under NAICS code “232520”. An index listing the NAICS codes used is provided as a separate document.
Information Provided
The following information is listed for each business:
- Business Name (operating tradestyle)
- Company Name
- NAICS Code
- Business Address
- Business phone and fax numbers
- Number of Employees
- City Licence Category
- Brief Description of product or service
The data is collected from the City of Richmond’s business licence system based on the information received when a company completes the application. While every effort has been made to ensure that the information is correct, due to the ever changing nature of business we cannot guarantee that the details are current. The directories will be updated approximately every 3 months.
Searching or Downloading the Directory
The document is in an Excel format and users may download the entire directory or it can be searched by using the filter function to tailor the data criteria.
