Pay Parking & Ticketing
Pay ParkingA mix of short and long-term metered parking, along with some permit parking was introduced in a variety of areas of high parking demand throughout some Richmond City Centre streets on August 1, 2002.
Motorists are advised to check street signage when parking to verify pay and/or permit parking requirements for that area. Block parking meters are conveniently located within a block to limit the walk to no more than 20 metres from any regulated parking space.
Effective July 1st, 2008 short-term, on-street pay parking rates are a maximum of $1.50 an hour ($0.75 per 30 minutes) between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. daily in the downtown core. All day parking is available in some areas for $1.50 an hour to a daily maximum of $3 from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Payments for on-street pay parking can be made using our AutoPay cellular-based system. For more information, please see our Pay Parking page.
Monthly on-street permit parking is available for Zones 1, 2 and 3 at a cost of $50 a month.
Monthly parking permits can be obtained from City Hall.
Monthly Parking is also available for off-street parking in the three existing City pay parking lots, including Minoru Park (at the Lawn Bowling Green and Gateway Theatre parking lots), and Brighouse Park.
Pay parking encourages increased turnover for the limited on-street parking spaces available in Richmond City Centre. In addition, public safety is enhanced by the increased presence of uniformed patrollers on City streets. Revenue from pay parking helps to offset rising City costs and moderate tax increases.
