Opportunities for Community Involvement
The investigation into homelessness and those at risk of homelessness is still underway and you are encouraged to participate!
On February 21, 2002 the initial findings of the study will be presented to the community at Richmond City Hall. Between 4pm and 6pm an informal open house will be set in the Cafeteria for the public to view a display highlighting the initial findings. From 6pm to 9pm a workshop will be run with a mix of attendees from various Ministries, health service providers, community organizations, City Staff and the public. A brief presentation will be given and then the group will be split into smaller plenary sessions for discussion of homelessness in Richmond. The findings of the groups will be recorded and used in preparation of drafting an outline strategy.
In late March, 2002 the draft strategy will be presented to the community at a delivery workshop. The strategy will outline a series of programs and projects which the City and its partners could undertake to address homelessness. It will be up to the people who attend the delivery workshop to help prioritize the projects and draw the strategy together.
