The Two-Can Limit
The City of Richmond provides weekly garbage collection service for all single-family homes and some townhome developments.

Garbage pick-up in Richmond is limited to two containers (cans or bags) per week for each household.  A $2.00 tag is required for each additional container or equivalent.

Richmond residents may purchase a Garbage Diposal Vouchers for $5.00 at all City Facilities.  These vouchers are good for $20.00 at the City of Vancouver Landfill, and are valid at any time.  They are limited to one per household.

For the purposes of garbage pickup in Richmond, each of these represents one can:

  1. A garbage can with lid
    Standard size: 19 in x 22 in
    Maximum size allowed: 24 in x 32 in (60 cm x 80 cm)
  1. An equivalent container not exceeding 3 cu ft (100 litres)

 

  1. A garbage bag
    Standard size: 24 in x 36 in
    Maximum size allowed: 30 in x 48 in (76 cm x 120 cm)
  1. An item not exceeding 3 ft x 2 ft (1 m x 60 cm)
