State of the Environment Report
State of the Environment (SOE) Reporting provides valuable information about the condition of the City's environment by:
- providing a framework for assessing and monitoring progress in achieving environment goals;
- Identifying trends and issues that provide a basis for making effective decisions; and
- assisting in policy and program development.
The City prepared its first SOE Report in 1998, under the guidance of the City's Advisory Committee on the Environment (ACE). A report card on eight topic areas was developed, consisting of two general categories and a set of indicators:
- Environmental Assets (our "Natural Capital")
- Environmental Stressors
The first comprehensive update took place in 2001.
