About Environmental Sustainability
The long-term livability of our city depends upon our natural environment – the quality of the air we breathe, the water we drink and the land upon which we live and grow our food.
By creating sustainable practices we can help to foster a safe and healthy environment for our children and future generations. The health of our environment is the responsibility of governments, industry and individuals.
Did you know:
If everyone on Earth lived like the average Canadian, we would
need more than five earths to provide all of the material and energy
we currently consume.
To live within the natural limits of our planet, we must all work together. Information in this section provides an overview of the City’s various environmental initiatives and opportunities for engaging the community.
