How to Prepare
Neighbourhood Preparedness
In a major emergency, experience has shown that neighbours naturally come together to help one another. By facilitating neighbourhood team building, the Emergency Management Office can help you to organize your neighbourhood response team. Teams will plan to be prepared to respond safely and effectively during and after a major disaster. The Neighbourhood Emergency Preparedness Program can help prepare your neighbourhood by:
- identifying potential hazards and their impact
- assisting with the preparation of a neighbourhood response plan
- working with your existing resources
- assisting with the coordination of training in personal preparedness, emergency first aid, fire suppression and more
A neighbourhood can be defined in many ways: a block of single family homes, a co-op complex, a strata or other grouping of families.
