- Have a non-traditional hiding place or Safety Deposit Box for valuables.
- Rehearse your Emergency Evacuation Plan with your family members. For more information, contact the City of Richmond's Emergency Programs at 604-233-3333, or see Before an Emergency.
- Install an adequate number of smoke detectors (one for each level of your home). For more information, contact the Richmond Fire Department at 604-278-5131, and visit the Fire Safety pages.
- If you have a pet entrance, make sure it is not accessible to people.
- Post all emergency and neighbours telephone numbers by the phone.
