Male Pleads Guilty to 26 Counterfeiting Charges |

 | Richmond, BC: On November 5th, 2007, Chi Hong "Terry" WONG, the owner/operator of Toy Revenge Hobbies & Entertainment Ltd., appeared in Richmond court and pled guilty to 26 fraud related charges.
Charges are as follows:
- 16 counts of Selling or Renting an Infringing Copy Sec. 42(1)(b) Copyright Act
- 10 counts of Make or Possess Plate for Making Infringing Copy Sec.42(2)(a) Copyright Act
The charges against his company were stayed. The court ordered forfeiture of all counterfeiting related items that police seized during the search of the business and sentenced WONG to pay a $25,000 fine.
Background Information On December 14, 2006, the Richmond RCMP Economic and Computer Crime Unit executed a search warrant at Toy Revenge Hobbies and Entertainment Ltd. located at #1198-8700 McKim Way, Richmond.
Numerous items were seized under the Federal Copyright Act relating to the production and sale of counterfeit Play Station, XBox, and personal computer games, including: modified gaming consoles, equipment used in the modification of gaming consoles and numerous counterfeit video games. WONG was present at the business when this search warrant was executed.
"Violation of intellectual property rights is a serious crime that carries with it severe penalties. We will continue to actively investigate these offences and work in partnership with the affected rights holders to shut down these operations and bring these offenders to justice" says Acting Corporal Kuldip KANG of the Economic and Computer Crime Unit.
