Smoke is dangerous! If you encounter smoke, use an alternate escape route.
If you must exit through smoke, the cleanest air will be 12 to 24 inches (30 to 60 centimetres) above the floor.
Crawl low under smoke.
Crawl on your hands and knees to the nearest safe exit.
