Car Seat Program
Richmond Fire-Rescue has been conducting infant and child passenger safety seat inspections for the past five years. Currently, there are 30 firefighters who are trained and certified to conduct these inspections.
By appointment, firefighters inspect infant and child passenger safety seats, including booster seats. Inspections include:
- To ensure correct installation in vehicles
- Correct use of safety seats according to child's weight and height
- Check safety seats for any defects
- Advise parents of any recalls on child safety seats
Please note: Car safety seats must be installed prior to conducting the inspection.
Child Restraint Safety Checks are free. Richmond Fire-Rescue will be hosting afternoon and evening Safe Ride Clinics as follows:
Where: No. 1 Fire Hall, 6960 Gilbert Road
When: 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month, 3:00 - 4:30 pm and 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
