Services
Richmond Fire-Rescue responds to the following types of calls: fire; medical emergencies; motor vehicle incidents; fire alarms; hazardous materials; water, crane, and tower rescues as well as public service calls. Richmond has a reciprocal emergency response relationship with its bordering neighbors, the cities of Vancouver, Delta and New Westminster. Richmond provides backup services to the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) – airside operations.
Services are delivered from seven
firehalls on a twenty-four hour, seven days a week basis. The Department employs over 200 fire personnel.
A variety of community education and fire prevention programs have been developed including: business inspections; home safe inspections; infant car seat checks; protecting your business; carbon monoxide safety; medical emergencies; school fire safety education visits. A variety of community-based public events and forums, such as the safety crew, are used to promote fire safety and prevention messages.
