About Community Safety
Partners for Prevention, Preparedness, and Response
The Community Safety Committee of City Council is the venue where safety partners are able to respond directly to Council on community safety issues.
Public Safety services are delivered using a partnership and team-based model. This integrated team approach to service delivery improves direct communications and maximizes opportunities to work closely together through joint programs and services.
The City’s primary public safety providers are:
- Police
- Fire-Rescue
- Emergency Preparedness
- Community Bylaws
These providers work closely with other key City departments
- Transportation
- Business Licensing
- Building Approvals
- Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services
They also work closely with other external agencies including:
- BC Ambulance
- Coast Guard
- Richmond Health Services
