What are the U-ROC Awards?
The City of Richmond hosts the U-ROC Awards each year during Youth Week to celebrate the achievements and dedication of youth, youth groups and asset champions within the Richmond community. These awards acknowledge those who have made a significant contribution to youth and their community.
2012 U-ROC Nominations

Nomination deadline: April 6, 2012.
Category Descriptions
Outstanding Youth
Youth nominations can be submitted by any community member who feels they know a youth who has contributed to the community within the last 12 months by:
- Peer Counselling
- Health Promotion
- Substance Abuse Prevention
- Community Involvement or Service
- Creative Arts
- Leaving a Legacy
- Overcoming Adversity or a Disability
- Athletes as Role Models
- Mentoring
Youth Groups
Youth Groups can be nominated for a U-ROC Award to recognize the contributions they have made to others, their community or the environment within the past 12 months. Nominations in this category must list the specific contributions the the group has made.
Asset Champions
This category recognizes adults who have shown dedication and commitment to building Developmental Assets (inspiring, mentoring and making a difference) in the lives of youth. They can include Richmond businesses who have demonstrated that they are committed to providing safe, welcoming places for youth to hang out, volunteer, work and/or purchase products and services.
Note: Nominations will not be accepted for businesses solely on the basis of their financial or material contributions to youth serving agencies.
