About Fitness and Active Living
Parks and Recreation offers a wide variety of physical activity and wellness opportunities designed to promote active living in our community. Our physical activity programs and services provide something for all ages and abilities and are taught by Provincially Registered Fitness Leaders.
Group Fitness and Aquasize Classes
Our land-based (aerobics) and water-based (aquasize) exercise classes are all self-paced and open to all indviduals. Participants with health conditions or other special needs are encouraged to speak to the fitness leader prior to the start of class to give the instructor time to provide you with advice on exercise choices and exercise modifications that are right for you.

PAR Q (Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire)
When you take part in any fitness activity at a City facility you will be asked to complete a PAR Q questionnaire (below) or read the large poster version of the form at your facility. This form is designed to identify people for whom a change in physical activity may pose a risk. If you answer YES to any PAR Q questions, you are advised to see your doctor prior to participating.
Active Living Questions?
The City's Fitness/Wellness Services Coordinator can assist you as they work in partnership with Community Association Fitness Coordinators to offer a wide variety of fitness and active living programs. Email your questions to fitness@richmond.ca.
