Circumnavigate the Island - Route No. 8
Ride around Richmond's main island on this 47.5 km route by starting in Terra Nova and heading east alond the Middle Arm Trail and River Road. Taking River Road, continue travelling east along the North Arm of the Fraser River past log booms and river activities towards Richmond's agricultural landscape.
Continue the loop by heading south through seasonal cranberry fields along No. 7 Road. As you continue south through Richmond's interior trails, you will experience the rural, tree-lined trails of Shell Road and Horseshoe Slough Trail.
The southern most point of these interior trail routes connects with the South Dyke Trail. Begin riding west towards Steveston along the South Arm of the Fraser River and view wildlife, the river, marshes and heritage sites along the way.
The return leg home to Terra Nova begins at Garry Point Park and the southern end of the West Dyke Trail. Ride the West Dyke Trail north past Sturgeon Banks and spectacular, panoramic views of the Gulf Islands, Coastal Mountains and the Strait of Georgia.
This "round-trip" tour of Richmond will take 2 hours and 45 minutes of continuous cycling time. Consider adding some leisure time to your route and enjoy the areas you cycle through by picnicking along a waterfront trail or visiting a heritage site.
