The Society is an association of volunteers dedicated to maintaining a positive, pioneer "Spirit of Steveston", by providing cultural, social and recreational opportunities for all members of the community.

The Steveston Community Society organizes the Steveston Salmon Festival, one of the largest non-profit Canada Day celebrations in the country.
