Demystifying Pamphlets

The Parks and Recreation Master Plan (2005-2015), and the strategies subsequently developed by staff and community partners as a result of the master plannig process, are intended to guide policy development, decision-making and program development for all those involved in the delivery of parks and recreation programs, services and events. Each strategy has been developed to support the City of Richmond’s vision; to be the most appealing, livable and well-managed community in Canada.

A series of pamphlets has been developed with the intention of “demystifying” plans addressing key areas of strategic focus within the Parks and Recreation department. Each pamphlet presents the strategy highlights and suggests actions that can be considered and implemented by City staff, volunteers and community partners to contribute to the realization of the strategy’s goals and ultimately the City’s vision.

As community needs and priorities change, the community becomes more diverse and the population ages, it is increasingly important for staff and partners to share a common understanding of the framework that is in place for decision making. Continuing to value, nurture and develop effective partnerships will enable a sustainable parks and recreation service delivery system that will enhance the quality of life for current and future generations.
