Richmond Oval to Debut Table Tennis Centre of Excellence Coaches at Free Skill Level Assessment Camps August 28 and September 4, 2010
Free table tennis skill level assessment classes will be offered at the Richmond Olympic Oval on Saturday, August 28 and Saturday, September 4 from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm. Each class session - which will rank players as Beginner, Intermediate, Senior or Elite - will be run by one of the Oval’s new Table Tennis Centre of Excellence (TTCOE) coaches, both among the best table tennis players in the world. There is no registration required to participate in the assessment classes (first come, first served).
YJ Liu, Head Coach of the Oval’s TTCOE, was born in Shanghai, China. He is a former China National Table Tennis Tournament Champion and two-time champion of the Italian Premier Table Tennis Championship. He has also coached the Italian and Canadian National Table Tennis Teams. YJ will coach all levels but will focus on adults and high performance athletes.
Ann Tian, Assistant Coach of the Oval’s TTCOE, graduated from the University of Beijing as a Table Tennis major. She has dedicated her life to coaching and playing table tennis for 25 years in both China and Canada. She specializes in coaching children and youth and also possesses the highest certification as a National level Table Tennis umpire in China.
Free table tennis lessons by TTCOE coaches will be offered to all who sign up for Richmond Olympic Oval memberships upon completion of their free table tennis skill level assessment class.

The facility’s Olympic Legacy conversion is scheduled for completion by the end of the summer and will offer an inspiring environment for all ages and skill levels to progress towards their own personal podiums.
