Audition Call for New Dance Company

26 August 2010

Richmond Arts Centre is pleased to announce the formation of a new dance company. As part of its vision to provide world class arts education at affordable rates, the Richmond Arts Centre has developed a program that will give Richmond youth the experience of auditioning, rehearsing and performing.

The program will be led by instructors Miyouki Jego and Claudia Segovia, who are both experienced performers trained in internationally recognized dance instruction, specifically the Cecchetti system from Italy and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance based in London, England.

Some candidates have already been selected in an audition held for RAC dance program returning students. The general public is now invited to audition for the remaining spots. Experienced dancers between the ages of 10 and 17 are invited to apply. There are only 40 audition spots available and only a handful of positions are being filled.

Auditions will be held on Saturday, September 11 at the Richmond Cultural Centre, 7700 Minoru Gate. At 10 a.m., audition tickets will be handed out to the first 40 eligible candidates.

The candidates with tickets will then be given a time on the same date to return for a one hour group audition. Dancers are to arrive on time with proper dance attire and hair.
