Hit Play ‘Japanglish’ at the Richmond Cultural Centre
30 January 2012
Do not miss this opportunity to see a free performance of Japanglish, the funny and touching story of a Canadian born woman living with immigrated Japanese parents. This popular, family-friendly, one-woman show from local theatre artist Yumi Ogawa takes place:
Date: Friday, February 24, 2011 Time: 7:00 p.m. Location: Richmond Cultural Centre, 7700 Minoru Gate Admission: Free
Tickets available, first come first serve, at Cultural Centre front desk at 5:00 p.m. February 24.
The show’s writer and performer, Yumi Ogawa, grew up in Richmond and is a former member of sketch comedy troupe, Assaulted Fish. She left the group to create this highly successful show based on her memories of growing up with traditional Japanese parents. Ogawa has been praised by critics for her ability to switch between roles as she plays the parts of her younger self and her parents.
Brought to you by the Richmond Museum, Richmond Arts Centre and Richmond Diversity Services, this semi-autobiographical performance is showing in conjunction with Richmond Museum’s upcoming exhibit, Edo: Arts of Japan's Last Shogun Age, running February 9 to May 21, 2012.
Tickets for Japanglish will be available, on a first come first serve basis, at the Richmond Cultural Centre front desk, located at 7700 Minoru Gate as of 5 p.m. on performance day (February 24).
