Celebrate Chinese New Year in Richmond
19 January 2012The Year of the Dragon begins this Monday, January 23 and Richmond is bursting with Chinese New Year events - where better to celebrate Chinese New Year.
Information on over 15 local events has been collected and is listed online in one convenient place. Visit the City’s new webpage at www.richmond.ca/chinesenewyear for all of the details.
“This new web page makes it easy to see the range of events offered around Richmond, and to decide on which ones you want to experience,” said Mayor Malcolm Brodie. “I encourage people to participate in this wonderful celebration – be it watching lion dancing, taking in the photo exhibition at the Brighouse library or joining neighbours at a potluck dinner organized by Richmond Multicultural Community Services.”
Other events include the always-popular Richmond Chinese Community Society TD Lunar New Year Celebrations at Lansdowne Centre with a lion dance, Chinese opera, Hip Hop, Chinese calligraphy, crafts and community booths; a chant and group prayer at the Chinese New Year's Eve festivities at the International Buddhist Temple on Steveston Highway; and a Chinese New Year Tea at London Heritage Farm.
