Canadian Western Bank Partners with City of Richmond

20 January 2012

The City of Richmond has announced a new one-year partnership agreement with Canadian Western Bank (CWB) in support of a variety of programs and events, including the Richmond Arts Awards, Richmond Maritime Festival and the new Rooftop Garden at the Richmond Cultural Centre.

The new agreement was formally announced at the grand opening of CWB’s first Richmond branch on Wednesday, January 18.

“We’re delighted to welcome Canadian Western Bank to Richmond and excited about our new partnership,” said Mayor Malcolm Brodie. “Our City is committed to working with the business community and other stakeholders to enrich the quality of life for all of our citizens, and this new partnership will help us achieve that goal.”

“Our partnership with the City of Richmond is consistent with CWB’s commitment to support and strengthen the communities where we live and work,” said Michael Yeung, CWB’s Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager in Richmond. “We’re also excited for the opportunity to serve more clients in Richmond with CWB’s unique brand of banking services.”

Under the agreement, CWB is contributing $50,000 to become the presenting sponsor of the Richmond Cultural Centre’s new Rooftop Garden. Opened last fall, the Rooftop Garden is home to innovative programs ranging from growing food in small spaces to water conservation techniques. The facility’s Green Oasis area can be used as an outdoor space for a variety of Cultural Centre programs and events. CWB will also be the presenting sponsor for this year’s 4th annual Richmond Arts Awards, held in April, and a platinum sponsor of the 9th annual Richmond Maritime Festival, held in August.

CWB offers highly personalized service through 40 branch locations and is the largest publicly traded Canadian bank headquartered in Western Canada. Known as “The Working Bank”, CWB’s primary business objectives are to provide exceptional customer experiences and build trusted, professional relationships with its clients.
