Public Feedback Sought on Steveston Traffic Proposals
04 June 2009The City is seeking your comments and ideas on a number of proposed parking and traffic improvements for the Steveston area at an open house:
Information on the proposed improvements will be available, as well as opportunities for public feedback, and city staff will be on hand to answer questions.
Date: Thursday, June 11, 2009 Time: 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Location: Steveston Community Centre, 4111 Moncton Street
Seiner Room
The proposals are based on earlier public consultation and work done jointly with City advisory committees. The objectives of the proposed improvements are to maximize the efficiency of public parking for all users, identify the need for any additional public parking, enhance public safety, improve traffic and pedestrian circulation.
Proposed improvements include:
- designated parking spots in laneways
- new angled parking on Bayview Street
- a new on-street loading zone for tour buses
- improvements to the Moncton Street/No. 1 Road intersection
- improved links from public parking lots to the waterfront
- possible leasing of a public parking lot on Chatham Street
Community feedback will be considered when the final recommendations are formed and presented to Council later this summer.
