The general public is invited to attend an information open house to learn more about how the City of Richmond is taking another step towards conserving the valuable heritage resources in historical Steveston Village.
Date: Thursday, June 4, 2009
Time: 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Location: Steveston Community Centre, 4111 Moncton Street
Seiner Room
City Council adopted the Steveston Village Conservation Strategy on April 27, 2009. City staff will be in attendance to explain the strategy features and how it will be implemented, and answer your questions. The public will also have an opportunity to provide written feedback.

Background
Steveston Village Conservation Strategy is designed to protect the exteriors of 18 identified heritage buildings within the Village. It will provide for the retention of small lot sizes, streetscape features and existing views within the Village. Historic Moncton Street will receive special attention to preserve its character. Land uses in the Village will not be affected.

The strategy is supported by the principles of conservation, financial incentives and partnerships and was developed with community and property-owner consultation, as well as assistance from the Heritage Commission, heritage consultants and City staff.

Public Hearing
A Public Hearing for the related Official Community Plan Amendment Bylaw 8403, Zoning & Development Bylaw 5300 Amendment Bylaw 8404 and Zoning & Development Bylaw 5300 Amendment Bylaw 8405 is scheduled for June 15, 2009 and will be advertised in the coming days according to guidelines. Written feedback from this open house will become part of the public record of the Public Hearing.
