City Receives Sixth Consecutive Financial Reporting Award
04 June 2009The City of Richmond has received the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting for the sixth consecutive year. The award is for its 2007 annual financial report.
The award winning report was designed, written, and economically produced, printed and bound exclusively by City staff, without using out-of-house resources.
Established by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada, the award encourages municipal governments to publish high quality financial reports and to provide peer recognition and technical guidance for officials preparing these reports.
Reports are judged by impartial members of the Canadian Review Committee, to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” designed to clearly communicate the municipality’s financial story and to motivate people to read the report.
The 2007 annual financial report is available online at www.richmond.ca/cityhall/finance/reporting/reports.htm or a hard copy is available by contacting Gloria Nicholson, Finance Administration at 604-276-4218.
