Japanese Sci-Fi Animation Next Up in New Asia Film Series
20 October 2009
The New Asia Film Festival’s monthly film series celebrates Halloween this month with an internationally acclaimed Japanese animated science fiction film, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, which will be screened at the Richmond Cultural Centre on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m.
Some of the voice actors and staff will be attending the screening and following the movie, will share their stories and experiences related to animation film production.
Light-hearted and inspiring, the animated feature craftily tells a story of a high school girl who inadvertently gains the power to travel through time and begins using it frivolously to fix problems. Since its release, the film has won numerous awards, including the Japan Academy Prize for Animation in 2006.
A complete dubbed English version of the film will be screened Saturday evening. The English version was produced in Vancouver by a Canadian company, Ocean Production.
The New Asia Film Festival Monthly Film Series program is free with a one time annual membership fee of $5.
