 31 March 2009

...All-time Vancouver Canucks favourites Kirk McLean and Cliff Ronning along with BC Lions legend Lui Passaglia and Rock 101 host Martin Strong will demonstrate their ping pong skills during Racket Rally

When Gold Medalists, World Champions and top stars of Table Tennis and Badminton arrive in Richmond for Racket Rally April 3-5 at the Richmond Olympic Oval, they will now be joined by some unexpected talents.

Known for his big saves, and more recently his role on the Canucks’ broadcasting team, former Canucks’ goaltender, Kirk McLean is also known to take on all comers in table tennis. Kirk McLean takes on Marty Strong, the co-host of the Bro Jake Show on Classic Rock 101, during a special intermission match on Friday, April 3rd.

Cliff Ronning and Lui Passaglia will settle their differences on the table tennis court where fans will see whether hockey or football offer the better preparation for ping pong. This epic battle takes place during intermission of Saturday’s afternoon match, which begins at 2:00 pm.

Racket Rally is a round-robin tournament which takes place over four sessions and three days allowing fans to see a table tennis match followed by a badminton match during each session.
