Park Blooms Thanks to Garden Club Volunteers
06 August 2009The Richmond Garden Club was honoured yesterday by the City for their significant contribution to the gardens at Paulik Park.
More than 40 members of the club have volunteered their time to create and maintain the elaborate gardens at the park, in some cases tending the gardens two or three times in one day. They were rewarded for their efforts with a barbecue hosted by the City of Richmond’s Parks Department.
The Paulik Park garden is part of the City’s Partners for Beautification Program, where volunteers help create and maintain beautiful places among the City’s 1,500 plus acres of parks and open spaces. Paulik Park is located a few blocks south of Garden City Park between Heather and Ash streets just south of General Currie Road. The gardens are open to the public and will be on display until the end of the summer.
“We are grateful to the volunteers for their ongoing contribution to help beautify Richmond neighbourhoods” said Councillor Ken Johnston. “The Richmond Garden Club has done a tremendous job in Paulik Park. Their gardening knowledge, hard work and enthusiasm are evident in the results. Their obvious pride in their community contribute to the appeal and liveability of Richmond.”
