Film Chronicles Paddlers Abreast on Yukon River

A documentary chronicling the experiences of breast cancer survivors who paddle the Yukon River will enjoy its Vancouver debut at the Richmond Olympic Oval Wednesday, July 15. Public are invited to attend the free showing of River of Life, which begins at 7 p.m. at the Oval (Room 1005, 6111 River Road).
Director Werner Walcher, as well as some of the paddlers featured in the film, will be on hand to answer questions after the film.
River of Life records the experiences of the 2006 Paddlers Abreast team competing in the annual Yukon River Quest, the world’s longest annual canoe and kayak race. Athletes come from around the world to test their endurance in this 740-km race along the rugged river in Canada’s stunning north. The documentary follows the women from the moment they climb into their boat in Whitehorse to the end of the race in Dawson City and features intimate interviews with family and friends as well as team members, interspersed with exciting racing footage.
