City Honours Its Graduating Firefighters
30 November 2009The City of Richmond is pleased to honour 44 firefighters, recruited over the past two years, at a graduation ceremony on Tuesday, December 1.
“These men and women have demonstrated excellent work ethics and a desire to succeed throughout their probationary period,” states Richmond Fire-Rescue Chief John McGowan. “They are highly qualified, capable individuals that compliment the diverse nature of the department. We’re proud to welcome the new firefighters to our team.”
The graduation ceremony celebrates the probationers’ successful completion of their recruit training, one-year probationary period and acknowledges a career milestone as they become firefighters with Richmond Fire-Rescue.
Mayor Malcolm Brodie, members of Council, Richmond Fire-Rescue staff, senior City staff and the graduates’ families will join in the celebration. Members of the media are also invited to attend. The event will to be held at Fire Hall No. 1 at 6960 Gilbert Road from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm with the formal ceremony beginning at 2:30 pm.
