Richmond Offers Update on 2010 Games Plans
07 July 2009The City of Richmond, the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC), and their transportation and security partners will host a Game Plan 2009 open house in Richmond on July 15. Members of the public are invited to drop in for an update on the proposed Games-time transportation plans for Richmond and other venue communities; to learn about the O Zone, Richmond’s official celebration site, and to find out more about the overall planning for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
Game Plan 2009 will help key stakeholders and citizens better understand the daily operations leading up to and during the 2010 Winter Games. Though Games-time operational plans are still being developed, these information sessions will provide an overview of current plans, a snapshot of daily life for those living or working in a Games-venue neighbourhood and provide a forum for community members to offer feedback.

This will be a drop-in style open house with an opportunity for community members to speak directly with venue specialists and other planning teams, as well as view more detailed information displays.

Richmond is an Official Venue City for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. The Richmond Olympic Oval will host the long track speed skating competition for the 2010 Games. The O Zone, Richmond’s official 2010 celebration site, will be home to a major free festival throughout the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Visit www.richmond.ca for more details.
