Richmond Requests Input From Parents and Child Care Professionals For Child Care Needs Assessment
17 February 2009To assess the need for child care throughout the municipality, the City of Richmond, with assistance from the Richmond Child Care Development Advisory Committee, is conducting a Richmond Child Care Needs Assessment for 2009 to 2013. As an integral part of the study, input is needed from employers, child-care professionals and parents, either living or working in Richmond, who have children under the age of 13.
The City has contracted the Social Planning and Research Council of BC (SPARC BC) to conduct the assessment, who will obtain feedback from questionnaires and focus groups.
If you are a parent, employer or child care professional, please complete a Needs Assessment questionnaire, available online at www.sparc.bc.ca/richmond-childcare-survey or in hard copy, available upon request at 604-276-4220. The deadline to submit the survey is February 28, 2009.

This assessment, scheduled to be completed by June 30, 2009, will identify Richmond’s child care needs by neighbourhood and propose an implementation strategy. Recommendations will be made to senior levels of government, who are primarily responsible for child care, as well as to the City, School Board and other community stakeholders.
