Richmond Winter Festival Hits the Street

The second annual Richmond Winter Festival will feature two nights of fireworks, live music and celebration of winter. From playground to podium, easel to stage, the weekend activities and family fun will be held:

This year’s expanded festival includes:
- Two stages off non-stop entertainment with headline performances by David Usher and Jim Byrnes and the Sojourners.
- An outdoor winter wonderland including skating on an outdoor rink (bring your own skates) and ice sport demonstrations.
- Special Countdown to 2010 celebrations with inspirational visits by Olympic and professional athletes and the popular Vancouver 2010 mascots.
- Local visual artists displaying and demonstrating their work.
- Skill testing games for athletes and budding athletes.
- Dance and music performances by well-known local performers.
- A visual arts area featuring arts and crafts from artists who live and work in Richmond.
The Richmond Winter Festival also includes a street fair with live musical and cultural entertainment and is capped off by a fireworks finale on both Friday and Saturday evenings.
Programming is nearly complete but there is still opportunity for local visual artists to take part. The organizers are inviting local and emerging artists and presenters -professional, student and community based - to participate in the weekend activities with presentations that will entertain and delight our guests, while showcasing our diverse city.
