Call for Group Volunteers: Richmond Winter Festival
14 January 2008
Calling all Richmond businesses and organizations! We need your help to kick off Richmond’s Spirit of BC week (February 8 – 16, 2008) at the 2008 Richmond Winter Festival.
The City of Richmond is putting out a corporate challenge to all local businesses and organizations to assemble a team of volunteers to volunteer at “Winter Fest”, an exciting outdoor street fair featuring live entertainment, ice skating, kid’s activities, community displays and a spectacular fireworks show. The event will take place Friday, February 8 from 5-10pm and Saturday, February 9 from 2-10pm between Richmond City Hall and Brighouse Park.
February marks the 2-year countdown to the 2010 Winter Games and Winter Fest is the perfect time to celebrate Richmond’s role as a venue city.
Hundreds of volunteer event ambassadors are needed to assist in various capacities both prior to and during the event. Orientation and training are provided.
“Volunteering at Winter Fest is a great way to network, give back to the community and add to your organization’s volunteer resume for the Olympic Games.” says Elizabeth Specht, executive director of Volunteer Richmond Information Services. “We look forward to local businesses and organizations showing their 2010 spirit and support.”
Register your group by January 25. Please contact Lindsay Baker, Coordinator of Volunteers, at 604-279-7031 or lbaker@volunteerrichmond.ca for more information. To sign up individually, go to www.VolunteerRichmond.ca.
