Richmond Fire-Rescue will be hiring up to 16 fire fighters throughout 2008. Seating will be limited to 300 people per session and will be on a first come basis.
BC Human Rights Tribunal Approval
Richmond Fire-Rescue is committed to being an equal opportunity organization that values diversity and respect.
The City of Richmond has received approval through 2010 from the BC Human Rights Tribunal to give hiring preference to women and visible minority candidates who meet fire fighter testing standards and all other selection criteria. In addition, the City may be prepared to offer tuition assistance to a limited number of preferred candidates who do not have Fire Academy training but meet all other entrance requirements.
Our intention is to fill a majority of the vacancies with women and visible minorities, however applications will be accepted and considered from all candidates interested in becoming a fire fighter.
All fire fighter candidates will go through comprehensive testing, including extensive psychological and physical testing. All potential candidates will have to meet the same rigorous standards to become a fire fighter, regardless of gender or ethnicity.

Attending one of the sessions is not a requirement for applying.In order to be considered for this competition, you must submit your resume and completed Fire Fighter Application Form, quoting Competition #2008-F-02, no later than February 15, 2008. Feel free to bring your resume package the night of the information session.

Only those applicants who are short-listed will be contacted to proceed with the recruitment process, however, all applications will be kept on file for a one year period.
