Donation Boxes for China Relief Effort Being Set up at Richmond Emergency and Community Facilities
21 May 2008With over five million residents displaced as a result of the May 12 earthquake in the Sichuan Province of China, the Richmond community is pulling together to raise funds for the relief effort. On Saturday, May 17 the Richmond Mandarin Lions Club announced its fund-raising efforts for the quake victims. Residents looking to make a donation, can now stop by a number of emergency and community facilities in Richmond.
“The devastation of the earthquake in China has had a significant impact on our community, with many residents looking for ways to reach out and help,” says Mayor Malcolm Brodie. “By setting up donation boxes at facilities throughout the city, it will provide individuals who want to help with a simple way to make a donation.”
“The Richmond RCMP fully supports the Mandarin Lions Club and commends them on this initiative. This will allow our community to actively participate in providing some relief to those affected by this tragedy in China as well as here in Richmond,” says Insp. Rendall Nesset, Acting OIC of Richmond RCMP.
