Play with Excavators, Dump Trucks and More at Richmond’s Operations Yard
22 May 2008Climbing on the world’s largest sand pile isn’t all you’ll get to play with at Richmond’s annual Engineering and Public Works Showcase family event. Live music, excavators, dump trucks and other fun and informative activities will be offered for the whole family.
This festival-like event celebrates National Public Works Week and recognizes the important services our civic employees provide to our community every day.

Kids can also learn about how water gets to the tap as well as fire safety. They can visit the children’s play area complete with its giant sand pile or have their faces painted.
Parents are invited to visit the City’s Parks displays, take part in gardening and lawn care demonstrations, learn how to be Power Smart with tips on energy conservation and also learn how to conserve water.
The whole family will enjoy demonstrations by Richmond Fire-Rescue, showing the tools and techniques they use to keep the community safe.
With a coupon, kids aged eight and under can enjoy a free hot dog and pop for lunch. To receive the free lunch, please bring the coupon from the open house ads published in the Richmond Review on May 17 and 22. The media sponsor for this event is the Richmond Review.
