An Evening of Indian Classical Arts to Benefit Global Relief
14 April 2008As part of Asian Heritage Month celebrations and in support of relief initiatives, the City of Richmond is pleased to co-sponsor Kala Utsav: 4th Annual Indian Arts Benefit for Global Relief.
Proceeds from this event will be donated to the Canadian Red Cross.
Date: Saturday, May 10, 2008 Time: 7 – 9:30 p.m. Location: Richmond Cultural Centre, 7700 Minoru Gate Admission: Tickets are $18 for adults and $12 for seniors and students. Children five years and under are free.
“This is a wonderful way to celebrate the diversity of Richmond during Asian Heritage month, while at the same time, helping a worthy cause,” says Kirsten Schrader, Cultural Programmer for the City of Richmond.
This magical night will captivate the audience with dance, voice and instrumental musical performances representing some of the finest traditional art forms from India. The evening will feature performances by: Sudnya Dance Academy (Bharata Natyam, South Indian Classical Dance); Vidyasagar Vankayala (Sangeeta Maruti Arts Academy, South Indian Classical Music); Mohan Bhide (Instrument-Harmonium, North Indian Classical Music); and Geetanjali Modha (Jhankaar School of Dance-Winnipeg, Kathak, North Indian Classical Dance).
