Join in the Fantasy Parade at Richmond Winter Festival

04 February 2008

Art comes alive in the Fantasy Parade and Art Park at the Richmond Winter Festival on Friday, February 8 and Saturday, February 9, 2008 at Richmond City Hall.

Drop by the Art Park where the Richmond Art Centre Art Truck will help make you “Parade Ready” with mask making, costume fittings, face and hair painting and musical instrument construction. Children are then invited to take part in the Fantasy Parade led by professional entertainers. Fanny Starchild and her musical friends will lead the procession around the site in a Pied Piper-like parade. Hourly parades will take place at the Winter Festival which runs from 5 to 10 p.m. on Friday, February 8 and 2 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, February 9.

If your art tastes are a little more refined, visit the Visual Arts Exhibition inside Richmond City Hall, where top local artists will be exhibiting and selling their work. Check out the unique and diverse art of local artists such as Karen Lorena Parker, Jeanette Jarville, Amos Gifford, William Watt, Behnaz Behzadi, Carmen Keitsch and Raymond Chow.

There’s artistry on stage as well with two stages of continuous live music, including the main stage, sponsorec by CTV and BC Lotteries,  with headline performances by David Usher and The Sojourners featuring Jim Byrnes and the Coffee Cultures Stage, sponsored by YVR, with music from around the corner and around the world.

Topping it all off is artistry in the air with fireworks on Friday and Saturday presented by Richmond Centre.
