Walk Richmond to Support Community Walking Projects

21 March 2007

Richmond community groups and organizations are invited to submit a Walk Richmond grant proposal for the creation or support of a local walking project that builds skills, abilities and lifelong walking habits in the community.

Walk Richmond is a joint initiative between the City of Richmond, Vancouver Coastal Health (Richmond Health Services) and Richmond School Board No.38. Walk Richmond aims to build capacity through walking and to create a legacy of healthy lifestyles in Richmond.

Organizations will be eligible for one of ten $250 community walking grants if their project encourages residents to get active, strengthens collaboration amongst individuals or groups who live in the community, and creates sustainable healthy habits in the community.

Closing date for Walk Richmond grant proposals is Monday, April 9, 2007 at 5:00 p.m. Application forms are available online and at local civic facilities and can be sent in by:

  • Mail:   Walk Richmond Coordinator
    Recreation and Cultural Services
     6911 No. 3 Road
     Richmond, BC V6Y 2C1
  • Fax: (604) 276-4132

Walk Richmond grant recipients will be selected based on information supplied in the grant proposal and those projects that build awareness and change behaviour in the community. Successful applicants will be notified by April 13, 2007.
