Turkey Trot Fun Way to Raise Money

03 October 2007

Getting into the Thanksgiving spirit, on Thursday, October 4 City of Richmond staff will be taking part in the 8th Annual Turkey Trot Fundraiser to raise money for United Way and the Working Poor. Staff will be trotting around Minoru (Clement) Track or Dover Park to get some exercise and hopefully win their Thanksgiving turkey.

“The Turkey Trot is a fun way for City staff to get active while raising money for two good causes,” explains Mayor Malcolm Brodie who will be kicking off the Turkey Trot at Minoru Track at 12:15 p.m. “As Canada’s healthiest city, the City of Richmond is always looking for fun ways for its staff and residents to enjoy physical fitness.”

Participants are asked to make a $2 donation and will be entered into a draw to win one of two Thanksgiving turkeys donated by SaveOnFoods. Participants can walk anytime during the 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. timeslot at Minoru Track and between 11:30 - 12:30 p.m. for Dover Park
