World-Renowned Tall Ship Author & Photographer Speaks in Richmond

Come out and experience the spectacular world of tall ships with a special presentation by world-renowned tall ship author, photographer and lecturer, Thad Koza.

Koza’s presentation takes place:

Date: Tuesday, November 13, 2007
Time: 7:30 pm– 9:00 pm
Location: Steveston Community Centre 
4111 Moncton Street, Richmond, BC
Admission: Space is limited, admission is $10 at the door, and refreshments will be served.

“Koza will share his knowledge and breathtaking photos of many vessels,” said Dave Fairweather, Vice President, Britannia Shipyard Society. “And although the Tall Ships Challenge® will not be coming to Richmond in 2008, many of us still clearly remember the excitement and awe when the ships came to Steveston harbour in 2002. This can be re-lived on November 13.”

About the 2008 the Tall Ships Challenge
The Tall Ships Challenge® Race Series began in 2001 on the Great Lakes. The Tall Ships Challenge® Race is a series of sailing races, cruises, crew rallies and maritime festivals organized by the American Sail Training Association in conjunction with US and Canadian ports on the Pacific and Atlantic Coasts of North America and on the Great Lakes. The 2008 Tall Ships Challenge - The Pacific Coast Series will run June 28 to July 28. Its BC destinations are Victoria and Port Alberni.

About Thad Koza
Thad Koza, a native of Rhode Island, has written about and photographed tall ships for more than 20 years. He supplements his tall ship research with sailing excursions around the world. His book, Tall Ships: The Fleet for the 21st Century, includes photos and detailed descriptions of more than 175 ships and vessels from several countries. A large photograph of each vessel, detailed photos particular to each ship, technical specifications, and notable occurrences for each vessel are included.
